Unlike motorbikes, if you want to drive a car in Cambodia, you must have a driver’s licence. International driver’s licence is accepted but you need to go through the local authority to get it recognized first. The local authority may then issue a local driver’s licence.
Note: you can’t drive around with your international driver’s licence.
Of course, if your local Cambodian friends have a car, and if they can take you around, that will be very good.
Driving a car will be a good option if you want to travel around the country and stay for a long time.
